We want to make sure that students or young children are conscious and well aware of their actions today so that they can shape a better future for the community
Waste Smart Schools focus on providing students with an environment friendly and environment conscious outlook that will shape their actions. We ensure students receive exposure to and well-rounded knowledge about the waste management scenario and individual as well as community level practices for environment protection.
WHERE ARE WASTE SMART SCHOOLS LOCATED?
For now all of our Waste Smart Schools are located in different locations of Chitwan and Kathmandu. Through total of 24 Waste Smart Schools in Chitwan and Kathmandu, we have successfully reached out to 10000+ children. We are soon planning to expand our network to other cities as well.
WHAT IS THE WORKING MODALITY OF WASTE SMART SCHOOLS?
Waste Smart Schools form their respective Waste Smart Clubs that function according to a general guideline set as reference by Recycler Saathi. The Waste Smart Club is generally 11 member club of students that are primarily involved with Recycler Saathi to understand the waste management scenario. They act as representatives who then integrate the learnings through various programs and activities in their respective schools and communities.
WHAT KIND OF PROGRAMS ARE GENERALLY DONE BY WASTE SMART CLUBS?
In close collaboration with Recycler Saathi, Waste Smart Clubs are exposed to recycling practices as well as made aware about the need to recycle. They are taken for site visits and shown the process of baling, vertical gardening, and organic farming and so on.
IN WHAT OTHER WAYS DOES RECYCLER SAATHI HELP THE WASTE SMART CLUBS?
Recycler Saathi organized Oath Taking Ceremony for respected Waste Smart Club members. In the ceremony the members are made to take oath corresponding to their respective positions. An initial seed fund is also handed over to the supervisors for the further activities of the club.
